VISIT US
Bratteklev Shipyard is a nearly complete shipyard from the sailing ship era. Here you can experience the sawmill, forge, workshops and sea sheds where equipment and machinery from an important part of Norwegian maritime history have been left behind.
The museum is located in Galtesund on Tromøy outside Arendal.

Entrance ticket with guided tour:

Annual pass: 250 kr
The annual pass is personal and gives the person and their companion free admission during opening hours and to lectures and events organized by the foundation.

Practical information

Since the facility is a protected historical cultural monument, it is only accessible outdoors without stairs.

There is free parking for cars and boats during opening hours.

Tickets can be ordered or purchased on site.

Ice, mineral water and coffee are sold at the reception. It is possible to eat food brought in outdoors.

There are toilets, including HC, on site.
Find the way
By public transport:
Ferry 1: scheduled boat to and from Merdø can stop at Bratteklev to drop off/pick up passengers. This must be agreed upon when you board, and return agreement with the boatman. Departure from Arendal/Tyholmen 1230 and 1330 fits with a guided tour with us.
Ferry 2: from Arendal/Tyholmen there is a ferry to Skilsø every half hour. From here it is a 20 minute walk.
Bus: line 103 stops at Sørensen's bend. From here it is a 2-minute walk.
By boat:
Arrangements have been made for visitors to the museum to arrive by their own boat. Use the floating dock inside the quay.
By car:
Visitors by car are asked to park in the designated parking lot upstairs at Revesandveien 387, 4818 Færvik. If you have special needs, you can park downstairs.
