Organization
The foundation’s purpose is to preserve and develop the use of the buildings, the site, and the collections for the benefit of the public.
It was founded on December 7, 2015, and approved by the Foundation Authority and the Register of Legal Entities on March 16, 2016. The family contributed the initial capital consisting of the property and collections, while Arendal municipality and Agder County provide annual operating grants. In addition, the foundation actively works to finance projects that ensure the preservation and development of the cultural heritage site Bratteklev Shipyard.
The foundation collaborates professionally with Aust-Agder Museum and Archive IKS (AAma). This agreement ensures compliance with museum, archive, and heritage conservation standards.
The foundation is part of the National Museum Network for Maritime History (Sjøfartsnettverket) and the regional network Innaskjærs, which works to further develop cultural tourism and travel in Agder.
